Description

NHS GREATER GLASGOW & CLYDE DEPARTMENT CLINICAL PHYSICS & BIO ENGINEERING NUCLEAR MEDICINE GARTNAVEL GENERAL HOSPITAL IMAGING ASSISTANT BAND 3 Post Ref: The Nuclear Medicine Department at Gartnavel General Hospital is looking to appoint a Nuclear Medicine Imaging Assistant to support the Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging services. You will work in both the PET Centre and in the Nuclear Medicine department. The role is focused on patient care. You will be expected to assist the imaging technologists as required (e.g. cleaning, maintain stock) and to support patients in everything from providing tea and coffee, to toileting and helping patients on to the imaging couch. Following appropriate training you will also be expected to undertake cannulation and take blood samples. The Nuclear Medicine Department at Gartnavel General Hospital operates on two sites on the Gartnavel campus and provides a PET imaging service to the West of Scotland, serving patients from Dumfries to Stornoway. The department, which employs 32 staff, has 2 PET/CT scanners, a SPECT/CT scanner, and a SPECT scanner. The PET service is supported by an on-site cyclotron (which is run separately). No prior experience or academic qualifications are required but applicants should be able to demonstrate an enthusiastic and caring nature and a flexible but reliable approach to work. As the work, which can be physically demanding, involves patients who will have radioactive materials administered to them it is essential that applicants should have good communication skills and be able to understand and work within the tight restrictions imposed by regulations surrounding work with ionizing radiation. Due to the anticipated response to this post the 1st 100 application forms will be accepted and the post will close thereafter . For further information, please contact Elaine Renwick (Technical Services Manager) Elaine.Renwickggc.scot.nhs.uk or Gary Hilland (NM Service Manager) Gary.Hillandggc.scot.nhs.uk , both on 0141 301 7900. Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service can be found within the Candidate Information Packs NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community.
